The Chanson and Ambassadors combined choruses traveled to Walt Disney World
in Orlando to perform on their Disney Springs Stage on Friday, May 20.
You can see some of their performance on our Facebook Page!
From Mrs. Mikus: As many of you are aware, 64 Ruckel Chorus students performed on a Disney Stage in Disney Springs last Friday afternoon. Members of both of the auditions choruses, Chanson and Ambassadors, combined to perform seven selections from the spring concert. These two classes managed to combine efforts after only two early morning rehearsals together and performed beautifully.
The gentlemen in the sound booth with me were quite impressed with our soloists and had a hard time believing they were 7th and 8th graders and Jo Ellen, our Disney Performing Arts representative could not stop complimenting the students as well as Mrs. Tredway! As the students were warming up in the backstage area, Ms. Ellen told me that she rarely sees such a large group of middle school singers who have their music memorized! Needless to say, this surprised me a bit. Ms. Ellen also mentioned how the students just feed off of Mrs. Tredway's energy and that Mrs. T is hands-down one of the most positive and encouraging directors she's seen. Ms. Ellen's job is to spend every day welcoming performance groups and shuttling them from warm-up to performance and back. Can you imagine the number of groups she has seen?
The students performed in a difficult outdoor performance area and even managed to sing over a passing helicopter without missing a beat. After the first song, the sound guy looked at me and said, "Fantastic." By the second song, he was singing along. Once "Dance Evolution" began, the seating area was filled with Disney guests who had been passing by. When we returned to the backstage area, Mrs. Tredway was presented with a Golden Mickey and the students were informed that they had behaved and performed tremendously and had, indeed, "earned their ears!"

The Ruckel Middle School Chorus, directed by Mrs. Michelle Tredway, held their
Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 10. Over 200 Ruckel chorus students performed
with piano accompaniment provided by Mr. Andrew Sheffield.
The Ruckel Chorus was joined by five guest instrumentalists, four were
RMS students, as well as Niceville High School's Opus One, directed by Mr. Michael Dye.

The Ruckel Middle School Music Dept. joined forces to entertain a 400+ crowd at a Sweet Sounds Concert for Relay For Life. All five Ruckel Choruses presented MPA 'Superior' selections, the Ruckel bands performed, sweet desserts were served, and door prizes were awarded. The event garnered $2,345.00 for the Ruckel Relay For Life Team!
