Marines with wreath

Students from Ruckel Middle school traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in a Veterans' Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

Ruckel students presenting wreath
Avery Derr, Haley Leach, Madison Newton, and Aidan Riccio were selected through an essay contest explaining the importance of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to have the honor of presenting such a wreath from Ruckel students. The wreath, presented to the guards by Mrs. Eller (a Ruckel teacher and trip sponsor), was made by the Ruckel student body and contains the names of more than 1,000 veterans' from our community.

Wreath presentation at Doolittle Park

A duplicate of the same wreath was donated in Valparaiso at Doolittle Park. That wreath was presented by Aliyah and Amaris Love. Mr. Whiddon and Ms. Jill Dickey, a former Ruckel teacher, were also present for this ceremony. This is an annual tradition at Ruckel and is an extension of our Veterans Celebration honoring the military in our community.
