Welcome to the NHS Band Website

 This site is devoted to the Niceville High School band program.  Inside is information about the Eagle Pride marching band, concert and jazz bands, auxiliaries and percussion ensemble and the Band Boosters. Our instrumental music faculty is committed to making the NHS program a model for the southeast.  We invite you to take a look at our accomplishments, the scope of our program, and future opportunities to see our ensembles in performance.

wooten mug shotMr. Dan Wooten - came to Niceville High School in the fall of 2003 after serving as Director of Bands at Lewis Middle School from 2001-2003. Prior to his appointment at Lewis, Mr. Wooten served as the Director of Publishing for Mars Music, Inc. He was Director of Bands at Colerain High School in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1990-99 and Director of Bands at Woodham High School from 1988-90. He started his career as the Assistant Director of Bands at Tate High School in Pensacola. He was Assistant Marching Band Director at the University of Louisville from 1984-88 where he also served as the Outreach Coordinator for the School of Music.

Mr. Wooten was a performing member (snare drum) with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (1979) and became a Percussion Staff member for the Corps from 1981-85 serving as Percussion Caption Head in 1985. In addition he has arranged for the percussion sections at the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Louisville, and Louisiana State University. He has performed with the Louisville Orchestra, the Kentuckiana Brass and Percussion Ensemble, the Cincinnati Community Orchestra, the Pensacola Opera Orchestra, and the Pensacola Symphony.

He has been a guest conductor and clinician nationwide and is sought after as a consultant for both Marching and Concert Bands.

adams mug shotMr. Jeff Adams- is our Associate Director. He is a proud member of the Niceville High School Class of 1974 . He attended Okaloosa Walton Junior College and graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi. He marched two seasons (1977-78) as a lead soprano (trumpet) with the Bluestars Drum and Bugle Corps from LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Mr. Adams is in his 34th year of teaching in Okaloosa County. He taught three years at Lewis Junior High and twenty three years at Pryor Middle School before returning home to Niceville High. He has a Masters Degree in Instructional Design and Learning Systems from Florida State University. He also is a Clinician for Sibelius music notation software.

Mr. Patrick Carnahan-

Mr. Patrick Carnahan is in his first year as Assistant Director of Bands at Niceville High School. Patrick is a 2007 graduate of Niceville High School where he served as Band President of the Eagle Pride.
Mr. Carnahan graduated from Louisiana State University in May 2012. While at LSU, Patrick was highly active in the band program having performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, the Bengal Brass Basketball Band, and was a 4-year member of the award winning “Golden Band from Tigerland” where he served 3 years as Baritone Section Leader. As a performer, he has performed at two International Tuba and Euphonium Conferences, in 2008 at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and in 2010 at the University of Arizona, as well touring the entire southeast with the LSU Tuba Euphonium Ensemble.  His professional affiliations include the National Band Association, International Tuba Euphonium Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.
