2011-2012 Yearbook

Yearbooks are now on sale.  Forms for ordering yearbooks are available in the Attendance Office or yearbooks may be ordered online.

On May 23, 2011, the Okaloosa County School Board changed the organizational structure of non-instructional support to schools (click here for a copy of the meeting minutes).  Specifically, custodial services for schools are now managed by the school district and not the individual school principal.  This applies to all custodial support including the Meigs Stadium.  Custodial schedules and duties are managed by the school district.

Florida's Constitutional Amendment regarding class size has a significant impact on student schedules.  Please click here to read a letter from the principal and the impact on Meigs Middle School.

This year the cafeteria will be using plastic baskets rather than trays.  Students will be required to place the baskets in the correct containers.  The plastic baskets will not be re-used every day; however, all of the baskets will be sanitized each evening.

CONGRATULATIONS  MEIGS  MIDDLE  SCHOOL!!!!

Meigs Middle School is an A+ school again for the 2011 school year!  Congratulations to the students, teachers, & parents.  Meigs Middle School has been an A+ school since 2002!! Way to Go Wildcats!

8th Grade Students & Parents,

On Wednesday, April 20, 2011, we distributed a Memorandum to all eighth grade students to deliver home to their parents.  This important Memorandum described for students and parents the options that are available to eighth grade students that are deficient at the end of this school year.  For your convenience, please click here to view this very significant Memorandum from the school district...(we understand that this Memorandum will not impact all 8th grade students; however, we believe that this Memorandum further affirms the importance of student academic work...).

Parents (& students),

You are probably aware that the Florida legislature passed legislation changing the requirements for graduation from Florida high schools.  These are significant changes.  We are posting (please click here) the latest information we have regarding the new requirements for graduation.  Sixth grade parents should pay careful attention to the new requirements for their children.

Parents,

The school board now has an "on-line" payment system.  The Okaloosa County School District offers an additional method of payment for school activities, such as band, chorus, sports and clubs, as well as field trips and items such as yearbooks, class T-shirts, etc.  Okaloosa schools are now able to accept payments using Visa credit cards, Visa debit/check cards, MasterCard credit cards, and MasterCard debit/check cards through Online School Payments (OSP).  In order to offer this service, the company charges a convenience fee of 3.50%.  For example, if you are making a $10.00 payment, your convenience fee would be $0.35.  If you do not wish to incur a convenience fee, you may continue making check and/or cash payments at your school.  The Online School Payments web site is accessible from any location, 24 hours a day, through a link on the right side of the www.okaloosaschools.com home page. Links will also be made available on school webs sites.

Parents & Students - Immunizations Required!

For the health and safety of our children and adults, the State of Florida has very comprehensive immunization requirements.  Students who do not have appropriate documentation of the required immunizations on file with Meigs Middle School when school starts on August 24, 2009, will not be permitted to receive their schedule nor attend classes.  This is a Florida law.  On their first day of attendance, students that have not completed their immunizations will be given a 30 day exemption by the school nurse.  If students have not completed the immunizations by the end of the 30 day period, then these students must be excluded from school by law.

Also, there are new requirements for entering 7th grade students.  Click here for more information.

Click here for all of the 2009-2010 required immunizations from the Florida Health Department.

Parents please note that the Okaloosa County School District has a program regarding insufficient funds and personal checks.  Schools have been asked to notify parents about the Safe-Chek program regarding unpaid checks.

Parents can now use the "on-line meal pay system."  Please click here for more information.

Parents, please click here for a copy of the district's "Annual Public Notification of Student and Family Rights."
